The Graham Hospital District held their monthly board meeting on Tuesday. Some of the issues discussed include secondary bad debt placement services, employee health benefits and charging for public information.

The board approved a new benefit package from Blue Cross Blue Shield. This package will be an upgrade of benefits for employees as the hospital previously had only a minimal essential coverage plan available. Graham Regional Medical Center CEO Shane Kernell said this is the second year of a three year plan with the goal of being able to be self-funded next year.

Kernell said there is a base plan with a health savings account as well as a buy up provision for PPO. The deductible for employees will be $6,000 and a maximum out of pocket of $12,0000. Kernell said the plan is a 70-30 plan with hospital services, doctor visits, labs, x-rays and prescription being 100 percent after deductible.
