Graham Regional Medical Center has a new Chief Financial Officer. Robert Lonis was introduced Thursday at the hospital’s monthly board of trustees meeting last week. The board also approved the purchase of new equipment for the hospital and wellness center.

Lonis was introduced by GRMC CEO Shane Kernell before the monthly financial statement review. Lonis was born and raised in central New York. He completed his Masters of Business Administration at the University of Alabama. Most recently, he worked in Tennessee.

“(I worked at) Humana for 11 years and then I went into a different arena, because you know, there’s all different nuances as you move along,” Lonis said. “I got into the governmental piece, in middle Tennessee, and then I really got into a different world with a public hospital in Nashville. That was a whole different world when you’re doing public institution, and it’s an academic center, we are teaching hospital. Then I went to a community hospital, probably about the size of GRMC. But we had a complete system, long term care, home health, hospice, you name it, every facet of healthcare, we did. And so I thought it’s a pretty neat deal there when you got a full continuum of care.”

Lonis replaces former CFO Jeff Casbeer who left the position last September. Casbeer had held the position for five years.
