GRMC budget, tax rate to be considered Wednesday

Fri, 09/23/2022 - 12:12 pm

The Graham Hospital District Board of Directors are scheduled to meet next week to discuss and vote on the hospital district’s proposed budget and tax rate for Fiscal Year 2023.

A public hearing will take place at the board’s monthly meeting scheduled for noon Wednesday, Sept. 28 inside the education conference room located behind Graham Regional Medical Center.

The proposed tax rate for the hospital district is $0.319184 per $100 valuation, which matches, but does not exceed the voter-approval rate, therefore the Graham Hospital District is not required to hold an election for voters to accept or reject the proposed rate. Voters may still express support or opposition by contacting members of the board or attending the public hearing.

According to the public notice filed by the hospital district, the no-new-revenue tax rate is $0.293647 per $100 valuation. The no-new-revenue tax rate is the tax rate that would raise the same amount of property tax revenue for the hospital district from the same properties in both the 2021 and 2022 tax years.
