GRMC hosting health fair Saturday
Since 1984, the annual Graham Community Health and Wellness Fair has helped those throughout the area who struggle to afford blood screenings by providing it free of charge to all those who register.
Graham Regional Medical Center will be hosting their annual health fair allowing citizens an opportunity to receive free health screenings and to visit 52 vendor booths from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday.
This will be the second year the hospital will host the health fair at the Young County Arena.
“Last year we decided to move the health fair to the arena,” GRMC Director of Home Health and Hospice Shelly Walls said. “It sounds kind of strange having a health fair at the arena, but it worked out great. It is inside, air conditioned and gives us more room for the booths that are going to be there.”
She added that they have also worked out some of the difficulties which they experienced last year. This includes adding more blood drawers, moving diabetics to the front of the line and moving all lines to the inside of the arena.
Some of the booths which will be there include Graham Eye Care, Remembering Wyatt Dale Water Safety, Young County Home Health, AirMed, Carter Blood Drive Department of State Health services and many more.
