Graham Regional Medical Center announced their emergency physician group, Titanium, has given 90 days notice of their plans to terminate their agreement on Aug. 31.

“We have been with them for three years and it is not uncommon to change your ER group every three to five years,” GRMC CEO Shane Kernell said. “If you remember we were with EM-Care for 14 years and we changed pathways and went to Titanium and now it is time to look yet again.”

There had been some tension growing between the two parties in recent months.

“We got two doctors (out of the five provided) that we have found unacceptable and the medical director refuses to do anything about them and we refuse to let them work because patients complain about them all the time,” board member Dr. Donald Behr said.

Kernell said he is currently talking with two companies, Team Health and Concord, to fill the position and are hopeful to keep some of the doctors who have been doing a good job in emergency room.

A special called board meeting will occur this week to vote on the decision. No notice of the meeting had been posted as of press time Monday.
