GRT Summer Youth Camp to present Disney’s Alice in Wonderland Jr.
For four years, the Graham Regional Theatre Summer Youth Camp has lit up the stage with performances from area youth and this year’s performance aims to do the same with Disney’s Alice in Wonderland, Jr.
The performance will be on Friday, June 7 and Saturday, June 8, at 7 p.m. in the Memorial Auditorium in Graham. GRT Director Christian Sanders said the program was started due to popular demand and was instantly a success.
“We had a number of requests that we do a summer theatre camp and from the beginning it was packed, “ he said. “We have set cutoff numbers, and that’s the reason we announced our season for next year we are doing two camps, because this season it sold out within two to three weeks after announcing it in February.”
This year’s program has more than 40 youth involved, who will spend Monday, June 3 through Friday, June 7 playing theater games, learning basic theater techniques, rehearsing the show, building sets and costumes and being involved in other aspect of the performance. Sanders said the show allows those with an interest in theater to shine on the stage or as a part of the performance.
