For Newcastle High School senior Rylee Hardin, rodeo is in her blood.

It’s what her grandmother did, it’s what her mother does and rodeo is how she loves to spend her time. She loves the speed in pole bending. She loves the competition against others. She uses it as fuel that drives her.

After winning pole bending at the Texas High School Rodeo, she will ride into Guthrie, Okla. for the National High School Finals Rodeo, which takes place July 17 through July 23.

She earned the trip after defeating over 100 cowgirls at the Texas High School Rodeo that took place June 5 through June 13 in Abilene.

As a competitor out of Region 3, Hardin performed on June 8. Region 3 consists of participants from 23 counties, including Young, Jack, Stephens, Palo Pinto and Wise counties.
