A Henrietta teen died in a two-vehicle wreck Friday south of Olney on Hwy. 251 in Young County.
The wreck occurred in the morning Friday, June 13 approximately 7.5 miles south of Olney, according to a release from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
A 17-year-old female passenger died in the vehicle wreck due to the injuries sustained in the crash. She was pronounced dead after being transferred to Olney Hamilton Hospital.
According to the DPS preliminary investigation, a 2012 Mack dump truck, driven by Wesley Paul Dake, 28, of Maplewood, Minnesota, was traveling south on Hwy. 251 with a 2015 Ford Focus, driven by a 17-year-old female, of Graham, behind the truck.
Dake drove onto the southbound shoulder to make a wide left turn and the 17-year-old female behind the truck attempted to pass. The Mack truck turned into the Ford Focus and struck the right side of the vehicle.
The 17-year-old driver of the Ford Focus was transported to OHH with non-incapacitating injuries. Both her and her passenger were wearing their seat belts when the wreck occurred. Dake received no injuries in the wreck.
The wreck remains under investigation by DPS.
