The Graham Hospital Board of Directors meeting was held Tuesday, Jan. 22, and many items were discussed including an MRI maintenance agreement.

Graham Regional Medical Center Chief Executive Officer Shane Kernell said the MRI’s monthly payments of $30,000 for the capital lease agreement and $10,400 for the preventive maintenance plan ended in January.

“The good news is the last lease payment is in January of ‘19 and then the unit will be ours, with no more lease payments due, it will just be owned by us,” Kernell said. “... That being said the preventive maintenance plan that was tied to the lease expires Feb. 21 and thus we need to find a new plan to replace that with.”

Kernell presented three options from Philips, the first plan is a full maintenance plan, with insurance for parts, helium, the magnet and chillers as well as unlimited labor hours costs around $12,000 a month. The second plan is similar except it only provides for up to 150 labor hours per year and costs $9,300 a month. The third plan, is a pure preventive maintenance plan with no insurance or labor hours included, costs around $740 per month.
