Six finalists were chosen during the second night of the 48th All American Girl Pageant and Sarah Huitt was crowned 2019 All American Girl.

Over 25 participated of the 2019 pageant and performed on Thursday at Memorial Auditorium before heading to the final night Saturday, Nov. 9. Students, from freshmen to seniors, took to the stage at Thursday to showcase their talents. The contestants individually met and were interviewed by the judges Saturday, who got to know each contestant and talk about what they are involved in, what they do in their free time and their plans for the future. The finalists performed again Saturday night and the judges announced the winner, talent winner and runners up.

The six finalists chosen and announced by Emcees Stormie Gage and Hank Graham were Emily Epperson, Katherine Hart, Suzanna Kunkel, Leslie Markham, Natalie Minyard and Huitt.

Minyard was named the talent winner for the pageant with the first runner up being Markham and the second runner up Hart. The Miss Congeniality award was presented to Epperson.

“This award is voted on by contestants,” Emcee Gage said. “It is given to the girl who exemplifies kindness and helpfulness backstage.”

Graham High School theater teacher and pageant coordinator Katie Huitt said in a previous interview with The Graham Leader that the students had been preparing for the pageant for over a month and were required to be academically eligible and have a student club sponsor them to participate in the event.
