Humane Society of Young County wades through COVID-19

When COVID-19 hit Texas in March, the Humane Society of Young County had to plan for a period of time that they could not be open or be able to accept animals which were surrendered or stray. Now that things are beginning to open up, HSYC is still taking precautions to ensure the safety of the staff and community.

HSYC announced through Facebook on March 24 that they would be closed to the public out of abundance of safety for their staff, but they would still be there to care and provide enrichment to the animals that were in the shelter.

The shelter also closed their PETS Clinic during this time and will not have any clinics in May. They are hopeful for a June return for the clinic.

HSYC Director, Shelby Brogdon, said that when the virus began to affect Graham and Young County, she asked for people to hold on to animals if possible and allow the staff to stay home or work in a safe environment with limited foot traffic.
