Kidnapping, vehicle pursuit ends outside Jacksboro

A kidnapping and vehicle pursuit involving multiple law enforcement agencies ended in Jack County Friday after starting in Young County. The incident started in Olney and moved through Young County before ending three miles outside of Jacksboro, according to a release from Olney Police Department.

At 12:15 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, OPD responded to a report of a kidnapping in progress from a local business parking lot in Olney. The reporting person, who was on the phone with the victim at the time, advised dispatch her daughter was being held against her will by her boyfriend, Zachery Trafford, 22, of Fort Worth, who was driving a black Mitsubishi heading east on Hwy. 114.

The officers were advised via radio that the vehicle driven by Trafford was last seen passing by a church east of Olney traveling east on Hwy. 114. During the search for the vehicle, OPD officers were assisted by the Young County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety and the Jack County Sheriff’s Office.

OPD officers caught up with Trafford’s vehicle on Hwy. 281 at Rumage Road in Jack County. Once the officers were behind the car it came to a stop in the passing lane of Hwy. 281. The female kidnapping victim exited the vehicle and ran to the responding officers, according to OPD. Trafford was taken into custody by the officers without incident.
