Lake Country Art Show on display in June

For over 50 years, the Lake Country Art Show from the Graham Art Guild has displayed local works and the tradition will continue this year in June.

The show is accepting art from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 30 and the show will be held from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. June 3-20 at the Fourth Corner Mall at 503 Fourth St. in Graham. 

A reception and awards ceremony will be held from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, June 20 at the Fourth Corner Mall.

The show is available for paid-up members of local art clubs or guilds with $50 entry for up to three pieces. Size of pieces were restricted to 48x48 inches and all artwork is required to be original and created within the last two years.

The judging will take place Wednesday, June 3 with Mary Gaerlan Schmidt serving as the judge for the show this year.

“Mary is a mixed media collage artist that teaches use of ancient metals, found objects, rare paper and textiles layered with watercolor, liquid acrylics, charcoal and crushed glass,” the guild said in a release. “Mary is a resident artist in galleries both in Texas and Wisconsin.”

Categories in the show are oil and acrylic, pen/pencil/paper, watercolor, 3D, mixed media works, digital works and classworks, which must be marked as classwork and is only eligible for a ribbon.

“We have broadened our horizons and got a whole lot more groups coming in to bring art this year, (such as) artists out of Dallas, from Weatherford, from Granbury, from Mineral Wells, from Wichita Falls,” artist and guild member Beth Prichard said.
