(GRAHAM ART GUILD | CONTRIBUTED PHOTO) The first place winner for the Oils & Acrylics category of the Lake Country Art Show titled ‘Piece of Paradise’ by Beth Prichard. The show is currently on display at the Fourth Corner Mall in Graham.
With 41 entries across multiple mediums, the Lake Country Art Show drew in a diverse selection of artwork at the Fourth Corner Mall in Graham.
For over 75 years, Graham Art Guild has hosted the art showcase. This year’s entries will be on display with free admission through Saturday, June 21 at the Fourth Corner Mall at 401 Fourth St.
A reception for the artists and the public will be held from 1-3 p.m. June 21 at the Fourth Corner Mall.
The juror for the competition this year was Diane Brown of Aledo, who is a lifelong artist with a passion for drawing and watercolor. Brown has a degree in elementary education with a minor in art from Bethany College and has illustrated five children’s books.
“The talent here is truly exceptional. It was a joy and an honor to experience so many thoughtful, beautifully executed pieces,” Brown said regarding the entries.
The show allows entries from paid-up members of local art clubs or guilds. All artwork entered into the show must be original and created within the last two years as well as not shown at the Lake Country Art Show previously.
Categories for the show were Oils & Acrylics, Pencil/Pen/Pastels, Watercolors, 3D, Mixed Media Works, Digital Works and Classwork, which was not eligible for cash awards.
The Best in Show award went to the watercolor entry “Purple Passion” by Kathleen Cunning, of Weatherford.
First place winners in each category were “Piece of Paradise” by Beth Prichard for Oil & Acrylics, “Lake Weatherford” by Colleen Erickson for Watercolors, “Last Call” by Collin Bachman for Digital/Photography, “Lillies” by Cynthia Pinnell for Mixed Media and “Spring Forward” by Virginia Newton for Pencil/Pen/Pastels.
