Lake Country Art Show winners announced

    The oil painting “Three Brushes,” by Larry Hamilton, which was named the best of show at the Lake Country Art Show on Saturday during a reception and awards ceremony at the Old Post Office Museum and Art Center. The awards were obtained from donations from First State Bank and Jordan Pharmacy. Hamilton is a member of the Wichita Falls Art Association and won the award for all media first place in 2017 for his painting “Starting My Day.” The show will be at the OPOMAC through Friday, Aug. 31. With over 190 entries from 42 artist from the Texoma area, the 52nd Lake Country Art Show drew a crowd on Saturday for their reception and awards ceremony at the Old Post Office Museum and Art Center.

Artists from Mineral Wells, Breckenridge, Graham, Wichita Falls, Weatherford and more presented their pieces to judge Kay Brubaker at the OPOMAC. Brubaker is president of the  Carlsbad Art Association and director of the Artist Galley in Carlsbad.

The juried show was for paid-up members of local art clubs or guilds with works accepted in the following categories: oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, 3-D works, photography, pencil/pen and experimental works.

The best of show award this year went to Larry Hamilton for his oil painting “Three Brushes.” Hamilton is a member of the Wichita Falls Art Association (WFAA) and in the 2017 show won first place in all media for his painting “Starting My Day.”
