Palo Pinto County Commissioners’ Court enacted a burn ban Monday, Feb. 25, the first burn ban enacted since Dec. 10, 2018.

All outdoor burning is banned in Palo Pinto County for 90 days after the adoption of the ban, unless the commissioners court orders the ban resolved. The order does not prohibit outdoor burning activities related to public health and safety that are authorized by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

These activities include, firefighter training, public utility, natural gas pipeline or mining operations, planting or harvesting of agricultural crops or burns which are conducted by a prescribed burn manager who is certified.

The order also does not prohibit outdoor burning activities such as outdoor burning used solely for recreational and noncommercial preparation of food or as a means to provide warmth in cold weather or outdoor cooking on gas fired or charcoal grills.
