The Caleb Larson Foundation will host the 12th annual Cowboyin’ for the Kids which will include a dinner and dancing event Saturday, Sept. 21, to raise money and awareness for research into new treatments and cures for childhood cancer.

This will be the first time the event will be held at The Harbor on Possum Kingdom Lake.

“One of the things that we do is we try to keep things locally and support our local communities,” Foundation Vice President Cortney Trammell said. “(President) Brandi (Larson) and I were both raised in Graford and so the lake is home.”

Caleb, the son of Brandi and Greg Larson, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma at the age of 3 and passed away six months later at the age of 4. His parents and family founded the memorial 12 years ago in his honor. In 2014, the memorial became a 501c3 charity with the mission of ending childhood cancer.

Trammell said she got involved in the organization in 2014 when her son McCrae was diagnosed with neuroblastoma at 10-days-old.

“The doctor told us to flip a coin because he had a 50/50 chance of living,” she said in a previous interview. “They did not know the power of our Lord. (Now), every time the doctor sees (McCrae) he says ‘there is a healing power.’”

Cortney and Brandi both grew up in Graford, both attended and were roommates at Texas Tech University and then both of their sons were diagnosed with neuroblastoma.
The Cowboyin’ for the Kids event will be held at The Harbor on Possum Kingdom Lake and doors will open at 6 p.m. with a cash bar and then begin with a dinner at 7 p.m. and Sonny Burgess and Jolie Holliday will be performing at the event.

The dinner will feature the choice of steak or pork chop with two sides. The event will also feature a silent auction and raffle and some of items include Ruger .22 pistol with a custom stock, Colt Cobra .38 pistol and some custom made pocket knives which were all donated by the Graham Kiwanis Club.

Tickets are being sold for $50 and can be purchased by contacting Trammell at 940- 452-1191. Tickets are not being sold at the door.
