The Texas Education Agency released their annual Texas Academic Performance Report earlier this month which shows Graford ISD’s State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) performance is below state and region averages.

The STAAR has four levels of performance which are measured highest to lowest by Masters Grade Level, Meets Grade Level, Approaches Grade Level and Did Not Meet Grade Level, which is the only level that is not passing.

Graford ISD is a part of Region 11 which contains the counties of Cook, Wise, Denton, Tarrant, Parker, Palo Pinto, Erath, Hood, Somervell and Johnson. The STAAR performance percentages for Graford ISD compared to Region 11 are 4% lower in the At Approaches Grade Level or above at 75%, 9% lower in At Meets Grade Level or above at 43% and 11% lower At Masters Grade Level at 14%.

However, the district saw gains in all grades, all subjects and most levels from the previous year, except mathematics which dropped 1% in the At Meets Grade Level or Above and 3% in the At Masters Grade Level.

Graford ISD saw a 14% increase in At Masters Grade Level in writing across the district along with a 10% increase in social studies, a 5% increase in ELA/Reading and 2% increase in science at the same level.
