During the 25th annual Possum Fest and Great Outdoors BBQ Cook-Off, a few moments were taken away from the festivities to recognize one of its founders, Frank Neve, who died on April 25.

“Frank Neve started Possum Fest 20 years ago, he was one of the founders of Possum Fest,” Chamber Executive Director Pam Wheat said. “He made this event what it is today. He is the one that started the live auction. Frank was really experienced in cook-offs and things like that. He thought that this is a good thing for fundraiser and for us to raise money for the community.”

The board of the Possum Kingdom Chamber of Commerce presented Neve’s family including his wife Kathy as well as Shawn and Scottie Corpening with a plaque which will be hung in the chamber’s hallway for all visitors to see.

“He was a cherished friend and instrumental of this community at Possum Kingdom,” Tammy Marsh said during the event. “From 1996 to 2011, he was a part of the PK Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. During this time, he was instrumental in coordinating the development, funding and coordination of the Possum Kingdom Visitor Center (now the chamber of commerce building.)”

Neve served as chairman of the Possum Fest event for nine years and also was key in the development of Possum Gulch.
