Turnout has remained low county-wide as Palo Pinto County finishes its first week of early voting.

Palo Pinto County is hosting early voting for the Constitutional Amendment Election this week at three locations.

There were a total of 405 voters, or around 2% of the 18,183 registered voters in the county, voting early as of Monday morning, according to Palo Pinto County Assistant Elections Administrator Savannah Trevino. Parts of Palo Pinto County have one local election on the ballot, but the entire county has the 10 ballot measures approved in the 86th Legislative Session to vote on.

Registered voters in the Graford school district zone will have the opportunity to approve or deny the issuance of a $49,600,000 bond for a new campus by GISD and levying the tax in payment thereof. If approved, the tax rate for GISD will rise $0.22 from $1.11 per $100 valuation last year to $1.33 per $100 valuation for the 2019-2020 school year.

The last day to register to vote was Monday, Oct. 7. The early voting locations are the Palo Pinto Courthouse at 425 Oak St. in Palo Pinto, the Palo Pinto Annex Building at 109 N. Oak Ave in Mineral Wells and the Graford ISD Board Room at 400 W. Division St. in Graford. Early voting will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, and Friday, Nov. 1, and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct.31.
