Starting at 5 p.m. on  Saturday, April 13, will be the Possum Kingdom Community Church Annual Youth Fundraiser with a fish fry, silent auction and a live dessert auction.

Cindy Sells, a church member who is helping run the event, said the fish fry meal is by donations only, but all the proceeds will go to the youth group program.

“We raise money to help our youth program, which we feed them on Wednesday night’s plus we send them to camp,” Sells said. “There’s a lot of kids out here that can’t afford to go to camp, so we raise the money.”

Each year, the church sends their youth program to Camp Copass in Denton where they do praise, worship, bible readings and other activities.

“Last year we probably took about 25 to 30 kids, we have two sections, we have the youth and then we have the (younger) group,” Sells said. “Youth is seventh through twelfth and then we have third through sixth graders. The youth will go (to Camp Copass) the first of July and the younger ones will go end of July. They stay all week and I can tell you I have two granddaughters and they absolutely love it.”
