Lions Clubs bringing big top circus to Graham next week

The Lions Clubs of Graham are bringing the old-fashioned, one-ring, big-top Culpepper & Merriweather Circus to Graham, on Wednesday, Oct. 4. The circus will set up in the lot between U.S. 380 East and Craig Street (near the fair barn), with 90-minute performances at 5 and 7:30 p.m. that day. Now in its 32nd edition, C&M Circus has become known for quality family entertainment. The circus has been featured in National Geographic’s Explorer TV series, Entertainment Tonight, The Los Angeles Times, The Chicago Tribune, and Arizona Highways Magazine. It has also been featured on the A&E Special: Under the Big Top and most recently, On the Road with Circus Kids, a Nickelodeon special featured on the Nick News Program. The public is welcome to drop by that morning to watch the circus set up: unloading animals, erecting the big top and rigging the tent for performances. The big top will be raised between 9:30 and 10 a.m., and there will be a free walking tour afterwards that will include facts about the performers, the history of the show and the different species of animals in the circus. In this presentation, they will also address topics such as hygiene, grooming and the veterinary care all of their animals receive. Prices for advance tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for seniors age 65 and up and children ages 2 to 12. Children under age 2 are always free.
