After an electrical fire displaced the Loftis family from their home on Privado Street in Graham, they are seeking support and a way forward.

First responders were dispatched to the fire at 10:12 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10 at 1101 Privado St. in Graham. Ann and Wade Loftis were able to escape the flames with Ann’s father Wayne Dunlap.

“My husband noticed (the fire) and he called the fire department,” Ann said. “There was a fire ball that came out of my dad's room. My dad is in the hospital right now with first, second and third degree burns. He fell, and that kind of pushed me out of the way. I wasn't going to let my dad stay there, so I helped him up and we made it out of the house.”

Ann said containment of the fire took a few hours and the couple had to find a hotel at 3 a.m. to have a place to stay. She said the couple have been trying to make plans and are being assisted by the Red Cross.

“The house is just destroyed. The only two rooms that are somewhat okay are my bedroom and the kitchen. That's it. Since it was an electrical fire, they had to chainsaw through the roof,” Ann said.

Ann said her and her husband were in shock the next day and are now looking for a way to move forward. She thanked the local responders for arriving quickly and assisting their family.

“Fortunately, the firemen arrived just as a fire ball came out of the room. Thank God for them. They got on it right quick. It was a miracle nobody died,” she said.

To provide support for the family, they are asking the community to reach out to Ann at 940-456-0193.
