Loving intersection changing into four-way stop this week
The Texas Department of Transportation will be changing a dangerous intersection of Hwy. 16 and Hwy. 114 in Loving to a four-way stop this week. The intersection is scheduled to be upgraded with new stop signs for all lanes of travel Wednesday, Aug. 4.
TxDOT released the information Friday in a press release in which they stated the intersection will include advanced warning signs, flashing lights, rumble strips and new signs as a safety upgrade.
“With the support of the Young County Commissioners Court, the new traffic control is expected to cut down on driver confusion. Currently only motorists on SH-16 must stop. Some drivers erroneously think that SH-114 has stop signs too,” TxDOT wrote in the release.
The intersection currently includes a two-way stop, with traffic on Hwy. 16 stopping at the intersection along with a flashing yellow light for warning traffic on Hwy. 114 as well as rumble strips.
