The 13th Annual Young County Masonic Lodge Scholarship Auction is right around the corner and members of the Masonic Lodge are looking for lists of consignment auction items.

Young County Masonic Lodge #485 is holding their annual auction on Saturday, March 14 at the Old Ag Barn at Fireman’s Park. According to Weldon Floyd of the Masonic Lodge, people that put their items up for consignment will receive 90% of the proceeds with 10% going to fund local scholarships.

“This is a consignment auction, not a donation,” said Floyd. “We are asking everyone to get their list of items to us as soon as possible so we can start advertising.”

Around Feb. 15, the Masons will send out a flyer of the list of items people have up for auction and begin advertising from there.

Over the years the auction has provided around $250,000 in scholarships, according to Floyd, with last year’s firearm/ammunition sales of over $30,000.

“The community has been fantastic,” said Floyd. “It is a great day that has really become a community event.”

They have sent more than 1,600 flyers to people who have sold items in the past and those that have attended previous years.

The amount of scholarships, stated Floyd, is based on the amount of items sold. They are planning on having three Graham scholarships and two in both Olney and Newcastle.

If someone has a list of items for consignment contact Weldon Floyd at w-floyd@tamu.edu or at 940-456-1669.
