The city of Graham and its contracted solid waste provider KC Dumpsters have released collection routes as the new provider gears up to take over services in September.
KC Dumpsters will begin operating on the Labor Day holiday Monday, Sept. 1 due to the first day of service being on that day.
Existing city customers will have new polycarts and dumpsters delivered from Monday, Aug. 18 through Sunday, Aug. 31. The new polycarts and dumpsters must be used when collection services begin for KC Dumpsters in September.
The old polycarts must be emptied and left at the curb by Sept. 1 for collection by Waste Connections. The company will also pick up the Waste Connections dumpsters during this same time period.
City residents will have polycarts picked up once per week on their designated service day, which is split into five days Monday through Friday.
The provider has created a service map for the Graham area which can be found online. The map is color-coded with areas where garbage collection will take place each day of the week.
For addresses that fall close to the border of one of the routes shown, they will have to confirm with the city regarding which day trash will be collected.
Polycarts must be placed on the street next to the curb and three feet away from mailboxes and other bins and five feet away from cars and trees.
If trash is missed, city residents can contact Graham City Hall at 940-549-3322, and they will notify KC Dumpsters. The provider will post changes on their website, Facebook page and through the city hall office for holidays that fall during the week.
The new polycarts are 95-gallon containers and service requests regarding the containers can be made to city hall. Residents can also contact the city to request an additional polycart.
Under Waste Connections, one polycart was provided for normal waste while another was for recyclable materials. City customers will only receive one polycart from KC Dumpsters due to the curbside recycling service no longer being provided.
For residential polycart customers, the rate for one polycart is $21.01, while the rate for two polycarts is $36.01. These rates only apply to customers inside the city limits.
For lake lot customers and outside the city and rural unit service, the rate for one polycart is $42.07, while the rate for two polycarts is $62.07.
City residents are asked to not place hazardous materials in the polycarts such as tires, paints, solvents, pesticides, automotive fluids, batteries and electronics.
City customers that want to recycle can utilize the city convenience station located at 1421 Ave. F that is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Bulk pickup for the new provider will begin Thursday, Sept. 18 and can be scheduled through city hall.
Any questions regarding solid waste services can be directed to city hall.
The city entered into a contract with KC Dumpsters to provide garbage collection services starting Monday, Sept. 1. KC Dumpsters was one of four proposals submitted to the city, including the former provider Waste Connections.
