New Veterans Memorial Committee seeks input, changes on names

The New Century Veterans Memorial Committee has announced the names that will be engraved on the new memorial and the organization wants feedback to make sure those names are correct. The first list is of those who served prior to 2000 and will show those who served prior to 2000 and were not included on the old memorial. The second list contains those who served after 2000, which includes those who are presently serving or have served since 2000. Both lists appear below. The Young County New Century Veterans Memorial Project is a nonprofit created to raise funding for the design and construction of an expansion to the current Young County Veterans Memorial. The wall will honor veterans who have served in the military since 2001. The project adds eight new granite sections with room for an additional 1,200 names, making it open for new names to be added over the decades to come. The dedication for the new memorial is set for July 4 at the memorial site on the Young County Courthouse lawn. Applications to be engraved on the wall for eligible veterans or those on active duty may still be submitted to NCVM, P.O. Box 925, Graham 76450 prior to the date of submission to the engraver on April 1. If the application is not received for processing prior to that date then applications will be considered for the first update of the wall.
