Nine individuals, including four children and two teens, were transported to various hospitals across the state following a two-vehicle wreck on Hwy. 67.

The wreck occurred around 3:12 p.m. Saturday, March 14 on Hwy. 67 near the border of Young and Stephens counties. First responders from both counties were dispatched to the scene.

Claudio Alejandro Garza, of San Antonio, was traveling south in a 2025 BMW 230 Series on Hwy. 67 while a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Gustavo Adolfo Alvarez, of Midland, was following behind.

At the same time, Jackson Henry Harle, of Caddo, was traveling north on Hwy. 67 in a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe, according to a preliminary investigation from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Garza attempted to pass a truck-tractor, semi-trailer on the left but saw the Tahoe, driven by Harle, approaching. The BMW veered into the northbound shoulder to avoid a collision and Harle took evasive action to avoid striking the BMW and lost control of the vehicle.

The Tahoe entered into a side skid in the southbound lane and struck the Silverado driven by Alvarez.

Harle, along with three children passengers, were transported to Graham Regional Medical Center with suspected minor injuries. Another passenger, Stella Lynn Hungate, of Caddo, was transported to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth with suspected serious injuries.

Additionally, a 9-year-old passenger in the vehicle was transported to Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth with suspected serious injuries.

Garza and his passenger, Maria Moreno Garza, were not injured in the wreck. Alvarez and two teenage passengers were transported to GRMC with suspected minor injuries.

The investigation is under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.
