Olney ISD releases statement regarding OHS teacher’s death

Olney Independent School District released a statement Monday regarding the Sunday death of Olney High School teacher Manuela Allen.

Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the death of Allen who was found near Lake Cooper in Archer County Sunday. DPS Staff Sergeant Dan Buesing said the incident is being investigated as a homicide.

“We are deeply saddened at the passing of Manuela Allen,” a post on the Olney Junior High School and Olney Elementary School Facebook page reads. “This is a tragic loss to the staff and students of Olney ISD. The circumstances surrounding her death are terrible to contemplate, but we have the utmost confidence in the current investigation by law enforcement. We hope that all who are grieved by Mrs. Allen’s passing will find peace.”

According to the Olney Independent School District website, Allen was employed as a teacher at Olney High School where she taught English and German.
