A Graham man was sentenced to 17 years in state jail this week following a plea deal with the 90th Judicial District Attorney office. The deal and sentencing stem from a series of car burglaries and the aggravated robbery of an Allsup’s gas station in April 2021.

Alexander Lara, 18, pleaded guilty Tuesday to the lesser included charge of aggravated robbery. Lara agreed to a sentence of 17 years confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, a $5,000 fine and $350 in court fees. Lara’s pending charge of organized criminal activity and charges in Stephens County were dropped as a result of the deal.

Lara was one of five people arrested in connection to a series of car burglaries and the aggravated robbery of the north Allsup’s on 204 Elm St.

Graham Police Department officers were dispatched to the convenience store at 2:39 a.m. April 29, 2021, in response to an armed robbery call. Young County dispatch reported the on-duty clerk at Allsup’s called and reported they were robbed at gunpoint and the suspects left the store on foot in different directions from the scene of the crime.
