UPDATE 1:20 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13: A device was removed and properly disposed. Based on what was discovered on scene, Graham Police Department is opening a formal investigation into the device, according to City Manager Eric Garretty.
 


A possible explosive device has been located at the Gateway Inn in Graham, with bomb disposal personnel currently on scene.

At approximately 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13, responders from Graham Fire Department and Graham Police Department were dispatched to the hotel regarding the discovery of a possible explosive device. Texas Division of Emergency Management and Graham EMS are also assisting.

"Upon arrival, responding units immediately secured the scene, conducted an assessment, evacuated the immediate area, and requested mutual support from Denton Fire Department bomb disposal personnel," a press release from City Manager Eric Garretty stated.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area around the Gateway Inn, including Montgomery Street and State Highway 16, until the situation is resolved.
