Primary runoff election Tuesday

Early voting ended Friday in the runoff election for the March primaries. Election day will be held Tuesday across the state for the candidates in the runoff.

A runoff election is held for the Democratic and Republican candidates in which no single candidate earned more than 50% of the vote in the March 1 primary election. Early voting in the primary runoff election was held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, May 16 through Friday, May 20. The deadline to apply for a ballot by mail in the election was Friday, May 13.

As of 2 p.m. Thursday, the turnout for early voting was low with 199 votes cast, or 1% of the 11,726 total registered voters in Young County.  Election day voting will be held from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 24. Voting locations on election day will be the Graham First United Methodist Church, 700 Third St., in Graham, Loving Volunteer Fire Department, 8891 Hwy. 114, in Loving, Newcastle City Hall, 608 Broadway St., in Newcastle, North Central Texas College Graham campus, 928 Cherry St., in Graham, and Olney Community Library, 807 W. Hamilton St., in Olney.
