The executive director of Virginia’s House in Graham and Dr. Goodall’s House in Breckenridge, Susie Clack, stepped down last week, and Trish Remington was named to the post for both organizations.

Remington stepped down from her position of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) coordinator for Virginia’s House and Dr. Goodall’s House to take up the role as executive director of both centers. Clack recommended Remington to the Virginia’s House executive committee who then presented the idea to the Virginia’s House board, which made the final decision.

Dr. Goodall’s House and Virginia’s House serve as children’s advocacy centers in Young and Stephens counties, providing services for children and families who have suffered from all types of abuse. The centers are umbrella organizations that incorporate a mentor program for school children and a North Texas CASA program.

“Because we are an umbrella organization, to me, that presents a lot more responsibility, but also it gives us a lot more opportunity to reach children and their families, because if we don’t reach them through the CAC program, the Children’s Advocacy Center program, we might through the mentor program or through the CASA program. Then, once a child comes on our radar, then we can we lead them into some of those other programs,” Remington said.

Remington has been a part of the Virginia’s House family off and on for many years, starting in 1997 when the organization was called the Young County Family Advocacy Center.
