A man died and his daughter was injured over the weekend in a one-vehicle wreck north of Newcastle. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident occurred at 10:15 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4. Alexandra Renee Dalton, 18, of Graham, was driving a 2012 Ford Escape southbound along Hwy. 251, about 4 miles north of Newcastle. She came upon a vehicle she hadn’t noticed, that was waiting in her lane to turn left. Dalton evaded to the right, to avoid hitting that vehicle, but over-corrected, causing her SUV to leave the road and flip. She was taken by helicopter ambulance to United Regional Hospital in Wichita Falls with non-life threatening injuries. Her father and passenger, Edmond Charles Dalton II, 41, of Graham, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt when the wreck occurred. Dalton is the first person killed on Young County roadways in 2016. Last year, two people died on Young County roads in two separate accidents, according to the state transportation department’s statistics. Dalton is survived by his wife, daughter and two sons, all of Graham. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. in Oak Street Baptist Church.
