Rotary Duck Derby launches 10,000 rubber ducks in Fireman’s Park

The second annual Graham Rotary Club Duck Derby made a splash at Fireman’s Park on Saturday, with 10,000 rubber ducks making their way across the duck pond.
The organization started their fundraising efforts in late February and hit the halfway mark of their 10,000 rubber ducks sales goal in mid April. The organization raised their sales goal from 5,000 ducks to 10,000 ducks for the race this year and also raised the first place prize from $2,500 to $5,000.
“We had a good turnout,” Rotary Club member Cam Bennett said at the event Saturday. “I think our numbers are up this year and we definitely had more donations this year, we had more sponsors, we had more food, more treats, more bouts. The only thing we didn’t have was a race that went any quicker, so I think we are learning from all of this and we will have our race down next year when we start again.”
Over 20 fundraising teams signed up with the organization to help sell ducks and to make $2 of each duck sold back for their organization. Last year the top selling team for the organization was the traveling soccer team the Iron Maidens, and this year they continued their winning streak with 2,351 ducks sold for the 2019 event.
