The Rompin' Stompin' Big Blue Band of Graham High School placed eighth overall at the UIL Area B Marching Competition in Denton on Saturday. The band first marched in the preliminary round held earlier on Saturday where they received 10th place, qualifying them for area finals held that afternoon. After a sensational final performance, the band was awarded eighth place overall. Although both performances by the band at the area competition were exceptional, they will not get to move forward to the UIL State Marching Competition which will be held Nov. 7-9 in San Antonio. The RSB3 membership and staff were happy to have done so well considering the competition they faced. "The band is very excited about their performances at area on Saturday," Graham ISD Director of Bands Josh Kidd said. "The Area B contest is very difficult, featuring some of the best 4A bands in the state." Kidd said after finishing their first performance, “all of the anxiety and nerves had subsided.” “The band staff asked the students to put their best show forward that evening and they delivered a performance that they will likely remember the rest of their lives. It was a very exciting moment for everyone involved in the band program,” Kidd said. For the rest of this story, subscribe to our print or online edition.
