Graham ISD school board approved a budget amendment for the Graham High School greenhouse Wednesday, with an additional $78,000 to be used for various aspects of the project.

The board approved a vendor for the construction of a greenhouse at GHS in May 2019 and the district set aside $60,000 originally when developing the 2018-2019 budget for the project. The board accepted a $40,000 proposal from S&M Consulting, which GISD Superintendent Sonny Cruse said, in the May 2019 board meeting, would cover the cost of the greenhouse.

Cruse announced updates on the project during the last three school board meetings about the greenhouse nearing completion. Cruse said electricity was being installed in December, a gutter system will be used to capture rainwater along with the city water system in January and gas was fully installed, with water in the process of being completed, during the last meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 12. He updated the board Wednesday and said the greenhouse is completed.
