The Young County Junior Livestock Show Creative Art Contest, with five age categories, is opening in less than two weeks at the Young County Arena. All Young County residents are open to submit entries, with participation from area 4-H, FCCLA and FFA students encouraged.

The YCJLS Creative Arts Contest will be held alongside the Young County Junior Livestock Show at the Young County Arena, which will be held Thursday, Jan. 13 through Saturday, Jan. 15. The Creative Arts Contest will not be a part of the YCJLS Premium Sale held Saturday, Jan. 15 at 1 p.m. at the Young County Arena.

Entries to the contest must be submitted and in place by 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, with judging taking place at 7:30 p.m. that evening. Entries will be accepted from 5-7 p.m. Jan. 12 and will be ready for pickup on Jan. 15 between noon and 1 p.m.

Age categories for entries are Clover (second grade and below), Junior (third through fifth grade), Intermediate (sixth through eighth grade), Senior (ninth through 12th grades) and Adult (18 years of age and older). Projects submitted must have been completed within the YCJLS year which runs from Jan. 16, 2021 through Jan. 13, 2022. Each entry will have $5 fee with a maximum fee of $20.
