For a fifth year, runners will line up at Fireman’s Park in Graham and attempt to overcome Spivey Hill during the Spivey Hill Challenge 5K and 1K Fun Run honoring Bill Spivey and Spencer Street III.

The race will be on April 6 with the 5K starting at 9 a.m., the 1K Fun Run starting at 10 a.m. and the awards ceremony beginning at 10:15 a.m.

Runners can register for $30 for the event up until the day of the race on April 6 via their website, https://www.runraceday.com, but Epperson said runners who plan to register on the day of the race should be there by 8 a.m.

“The race will start at 9 a.m., so we really want people, if they are needing to sign up, to be there around 8 o’clock so they can be registered and signed up so we will be able to start on time,” she said.

Award categories will be for male and female age divisions 10 and under, 11 through 14, 15 through 19, 20 through 29, 30 through 39, 40 through 49, 50 through 59 and 60 and over. One change this year is the prize money, which used to go solely to the top male and female runners, will go to the top three male and female runners. First place winners will receive $250, second place winners will receive $100, third place winners will receive $50 with medals for all the age ranges.
