The Old Post Office Museum and Art Center is kicking off the new year with a showcase featuring trophies of local hunters.

The Into the Wild Trophy Showcase will be on display at the OPOMAC with free admission through Saturday, Feb. 28 as a celebration of local hunters and their trophies. The hunters submitted a number of taxidermy trophies with information about the trophies and the hunters themselves.

“This exhibit features stunning displays of taxidermy, highlighting the essence of nature while also educating visitors about the craftsmanship behind each piece,” the OPOMAC states on their website.

Local hunters with entries include Alex Heartfield, Husky Melendez, Keaton Skidmore, Codie Hedge, Lane “Bub” McMillian, Steve Fikes and Koby Andrews.

The center held an opening reception for the exhibit Saturday, Jan. 3 where Andrews gave a live taxidermy demonstration while answering questions regarding the process.

Following the trophy display through February, the center will have creative works on display for area art students in kindergarten through seniors in high school. That exhibit will be held from March 6-26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

Artwork will be from students of Graham ISD, Olney ISD, Jacksboro ISD, Bryson ISD, Archer City ISD and Open Door Christian School.

The Graham High School Art Department will also have their Spring Show from April 3-23 at the OPOMAC featuring works from those in Art I-IV.

The OPOMAC is located at 510 Third St. in Graham and is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
