State, local election candidate forum Monday
A candidate forum for those vying for a seat in the upcoming March primary election will be held Monday at North Central Texas College in Graham. The forum, hosted by the Young County Republicans organization, is scheduled to have local and state candidates make an appearance.
The forum will be hosted at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10 at the North Central Texas College multi-purpose room for candidates on the Young County Republican primary ballot. There were 11 local Republican candidates who filed with Young County Republican Party Chair Kyle Milam for a place on the ballot and no Democratic candidates who filed for a local seat in the election.
“I just want public to know, this is their opportunity to hear from these candidates who are challenging the incumbents and (...) I think it’s important,” Milam said. “(...) we hope to get a fair turnout (...). It is kind of early, but early voting starts February the 14th. Well actually mail-in ballots (...) will actually be going out beforehand, so (...) it’s quickly approaching.”
Local candidates who have filed on the Republican primary election ballot are Win Graham seeking Young County Judge; Jaime Land seeking reelection to Young County District Clerk; Kay Hardin seeking reelection to Young County Clerk; Kathy Mishler seeking the position of Young County Treasurer; Joey Stewart and Lonnie Wales seeking the position of Justice of the Peace Precinct 3; Jimmy Wiley seeking reelection to Young County Commissioner Precinct 4 and opponent Rob Ward seeking the same seat; Jason Hearne seeking reelection to Justice of the Peace Precinct 1; Matt Pruitt seeking reelection to Young County Commissioner Precinct 2 and opponent Scott Shook seeking the same seat.
