For another year, the Old Post Office Museum and Art Center is hosting artwork from area students in celebration of Youth Art Month.
After capping off their Heart of the Book Caldecott Medal exhibit last week at the OPOMAC, the center is hosting creative works from area art students through Thursday, April 24.
Youth Art Month is administered by the Council for Art Education and promotes school art programs.
Graham High School Art Teacher Christie Andrews said the annual exhibit is a celebration of area students and their creativity.
“Typically Youth Art Month is in March, but we are doing it in April for our region,” Andrews said. “We’ve been communicating with local art teachers and inviting them to submit pieces. Each art teacher submitted 25 pieces of exemplary work from their students.”
Kindergarten through seniors in high school from Archer City ISD, Bryson ISD, Graham ISD and Jacksboro ISD have works submitted in the exhibit.
“We are having a reception on April 24 to honor the artists… from 5-7 p.m. People can come at any time between when it opens on April 4 until April 24,” Andrews said.
The OPOMAC, located at 510 Third St. in Graham, has free admission and is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. For more information regarding upcoming events and exhibits at the center, visit theoldpost.org.
