The Library of Graham will be hosting their grand finale for the Summer Reading Program on Wednesday, July 19 at 2 p.m. at the North Central Texas College auditorium.

The program which began on May 26, had 187 registered children who read over 4,400 hours during the summer. This was a record number of hours read by children in the program, which has been around since Library Director Sherrie Gibson took her current position in 2000.

“We had some really big readers and we had some that they weren’t big readers, but they were steady and they came in and they kept reading through the whole program,” she said. “You have a few that come and they just do their two hours and they get that bag and we don’t see them anymore, but we had a lot of them this TIME, probably 75 percent that read through the whole program.”

The program is for children who are incoming eighth graders and down through age 3. For every hour read and logged, the child will receive three “book bucks” and a free book from the library.
