Thieves struck a Graham business not once, but twice, making off with huge, valuable vintage advertising signs.

On May 9, the Young County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a theft of large antique porcelain signs.

Sometime between Friday, May 5 and Sunday, May 7, thieves stole 15 gas station signs from Hawkins Pump and Supply, located at 276 U.S. 380 West in Graham.

The signs were described as one each, advertising Amco, Texaco, Shamrock, Mobil Oil, Deep Rock, Magnolia Gasoline and Phillips 66, along with eight other signs of unknown brand.

“These signs are very collectable and are valued at least $2,500 each,”’ the sheriff’s office said in a press release.

Thieves returned between June 2 and June 3, taking seven more signs from the same location.

These signs are described as two large Gulf signs, one each of large Texaco, Phillips 66 and Fina gas signs, along with small Magnolia signs. These signs were valued at $8,500, the sheriff’s office said.

“The Young County Sheriff’s Office requests help locating these signs,” the press release said. “If you have any information please call Crime Stoppers or the Young County Sheriff’s Office.”

Those who have information about a crime in Graham or Young County may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-322-9888. The sheriff’s office may be reached at (940) 549-1555.
