A master of the brickiverse will be sharing his and others Lego creations this summer on the downtown square.
A chip off the old block, Beck Lundgren, the 8-year-old son of Sarah and Brant Lundgren, is seeing his dream turn into a reality with Lego Looks by Beck, an interactive museum of Lego sets and original creations.
The idea for the museum was sparked by Beck’s love of Legos, but also a logistics issue.
“It's been hard for me to show people my Legos just by bringing them in my backpack,” Beck said. “So I thought this would be a good idea.”
Brick by brick, he started to create his plan. With the help of local businesses, Beck was able to secure a location on the downtown square, as well as some custom displays and a real bank loan. He also worked with an artist to create his own logo.
“I drew it, an artist fixed it up, and then we changed details, and then it was perfect,” he said.
While he estimates he has put together between 25-30 Lego sets, Beck also enjoys building original creations, which will be on display at the museum.
“So I just finished a cannon, that does not shoot, that went on a Star Wars vehicle,” he said.
The museum, located at 606 Third St., will have its grand opening from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 18.
Entry into the museum is $1 per person. Fellow block-stars will have the opportunity to construct some fun of their own at the Creation Station. Merchandise, such as T-shirts and hats with the museum’s logo designed by Beck, will also be available for purchase.
Donations of fully-built sets and original creations, as well as individual Lego pieces for the Creation Station, will be accepted through Monday, June 16. Drop-off can be arranged by calling or texting 254-977-2609.
The museum will be open from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 19, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 21 and 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 22, so make sure you block out some time for fun.
Additional dates will be announced via Facebook at Lego Looks by Beck.
