Runners have the opportunity to face Spivey Hill as a part of the eighth annual Spivey Hill Challenge next Saturday at Fireman’s Park. The event has sign-ups for an in-person and virtual 5K run, 1K Fun Run and a Walk and Talk around the park, benefiting Shine On and Garments of Grace.

The event will be held Saturday, Nov. 12 at Fireman’s Park in Graham. The 5K and Walk and Talk will start the event at 9 a.m. and 9:05 a.m., respectively. The 1K Fun Run will be held at 10 a.m. and will not be timed. Last year, the run incorporated an in-person and virtual option available for participants, which will be returning this year.

“We’ve changed everything up this year,” Spivey Hill Challenge committee member Jamie Epperson said. “We always had it in the spring, but there was just so much going on that we thought we might have a little more fun and do like a turkey trot this year. So we’re doing it in November and really, the response has been really great. We’ve got 75 runners already pre-registered and I expect to get tons more on packet pickup and race day.”

Sign-ups can be completed for the race at runsignup.com. Registration will be $50 for the virtual 5K and $35 for the 5K, Walk and Talk and Fun Run. Registration will be available on race day at Fireman’s Park. There will be divisions for male and female runners and age divisions for those 10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 and over.
