A fatal wreck occurred Wednesday on Hwy. 16 South when a vehicle struck the side of a building.
Jessica Fay Goode, 47, of Throckmorton was the sole occupant of the vehicle involved in the wreck Wednesday, Nov. 12 in the 1300 block of Hwy. 16 South, according to a release from Graham City Manager Eric Garretty.
First responders were dispatched to the wreck with possible entrapment around 2:46 p.m. Nov. 12.
Responders located a white 2019 GMC Sierra pickup truck that struck a brick wall on the north side of a car wash located at 1312 Hwy. 16 South. The responders determined Goode had died at the scene.
Upon further investigation, law enforcement determined Goode was seen traveling south in the pickup on 1300 block of Hwy. 16 S and halted in the southbound lane for a short period of time.
“Witnesses at the scene stated that they observed the pickup accelerate rapidly from where it had stopped, leave the roadway, transit a commercial parking lot and subsequently impact the brick wall of the car wash,” Garretty said in the release.
The factors behind the wreck remain under investigation. The release stated the city will provide additional information when the investigation is complete.
The Graham Leader will continue to follow the investigation and release information as it is obtained.
