Graham on recommended list for TPWD grant approval for park improvement, trail projects

The commission for Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will make the determination Thursday if the city of Graham receives funding for a proposed park improvement grant and recreational trails grant. The city is listed on the agenda for the TPWD meeting for both grants as being recommended for approval.

Last year, the announcement of the entities receiving the grant funding was delayed to August 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the city was not awarded the funding. The city resubmitted applications for grants from TPWD through their Local Park and Recreational Trails grant programs and Thursday, May 27, the commission will make a determination to accept or deny the recommendations made by TPWD staff.

In February, the city of Graham submitted their new Recreational Trails grant to TPWD after reevaluating aspects of the previous grant. The trails grant was submitted last year and the city fell just below the cutoff from TPWD for the matching grant award.
