Two entities in county to hold uniform election

Olney Hamilton Hospital District and Newcastle Independent School District are the only entities in Young County with enough applicants for the ballot to hold a May 4 election. The deadline to file was 5 p.m. Friday, Feb 15.

Entities serving Young County which had seats up for election were city of Graham, Graham Independent School District, Graham Hospital District, city of Olney, Olney ISD, Olney Hamilton Hospital District, city of Newcastle, Newcastle ISD and Baylor County Water District.

The two up for reelection on the Graham City Council were Kyle Peavy and Lee Boyd. As of Friday, Feb. 1, the incumbents were the only people who had applied. One action item on the agenda for the Feb. 21 is canceling the election and declaring each unopposed candidate elected to office.
