Heavy rain and winds hit Graham Friday night, causing two separate vehicles to leave the roadway and end up in Shawnee Creek, according to Graham Police Department.

Graham Fire and Police Departments responded to the 900 block of Elm Street Friday, May 15 at 8:55 p.m. for reports of a 1995 maroon Buick Regal in the creek.

Graham Police Sgt. Pedro Marrufo, Officer Kirk Freeman and K-9 Officer Hailey Calcote arrived on scene to find the driver, Miranda Cedillo, 29, and passenger Jose Baez, 34, out of the vehicle.

In a press release, Graham Police Department stated that Cedillo was south bound on Elm St. and because of heavy rain, flash flooding and high winds, she was unable to see the roadway. She was trying to find a place to pull off the road when she felt her front wheels roll over the curb.
